Ms. Jessica Loo
Energetic. Enthusiastic.
Dynamic. These words can be said to describe Jessica Loo -
The Violinist from Penang, Malaysia.
It all started when she first took up
the drum when she was 13. She was in her secondary school band. After graduated,
she was actively involved in concerts under the Penang State Symphonic Band
(PESSBAND) and Universal Philharmonic orchestra (UPO) and was a principal
timpanist in both since year 2001 - 2006. In 2007, she decided to pursue a
musical career and thus, moved to Kuala Lumpur. From there, she joined the
Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) orchestra as her 1st destination.
She was once again appointed as the principal timpanist from 2007 - 2010 and
was involved various concerts which encompasses both in-house concerts and
public performances.
Jessica Loo took up violin as her second instrument in year 2002 when
she met the late Mr. Brian Tan Wee Thean. She was highly influenced by the well
known Malaysian violinist and conductor of KLPAC orchestra at the time. Under
his passionate teaching and guidance, Jessica finished all graded exams
within 4 years and she achieved her Associate Recital diploma
examination (A.T.C.L.) under London Trinity College with a
Distinction in year 2011, only to receive a Licentiate Recital Diploma
(L.T.C.L.) much later in 2017. After her greatly respected teacher Mr. Brian
Tan passed away in year 2011, she continues studying the violin with another
well-known violinists, such as Mr Yip Siew Keen from National Symphony Orchestra
(NSO), and Ms Ling YunZi, a violinist from Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra
(MPO).
Jessica Loo started her career as a classical and
pop violin performer in year 2006. Over the years, she has been invited to
perform as a soloist in various commercial events around Malaysia, such as the
launching of the Toyota Hybrid Serena, NCT Awards ceremony, the launch of Oslee
products, Sunlife Appreciation Dinner, the BMW
Showroom 2015, BMW Series launching, the Golden Eagle Award Ceremony, Guang
Ming Jit Poh CNY Celebration, AMBANK Project closure Dinner, Spring Run, Run
For Peace, and various wedding dinners and ceremonies. Besides that,
hoping to create a wider range of live music performances, she then formed
the Elegante String Quartet which is classic with various styles of repertoires
including pop, rock alongside the traditional classical songs. Jessica also had
been invited to a music video shooting with our local artist, MintG for her 1st
book and music album as well as an audio recording for a Dutch Lady Milk
Commercial.
Aside from performing, Jessica Loo channels her passion for music by nurturing
the next generation of musical talents. She is now the school principal and
music educator in Absolute Music Performing Art Centre and Absolute Music Studio
that she founded in year 2009. Jessica manages to apply her knowledge and
skills to conduct music lessons for young children. She understands that
practice, performances and teachings are all crucial to her success in her
musical career. Not one of them are left out.
Jessica has also been involved in many performances for charity as well. She
appreciates what she is today and believes that giving back to the society is
an important task. She actively contributes by doing public performances in NGO
Awareness Campaigns, Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness, Dance For Fund
Society Selangor, and International Lions Club, Relay For Life and 30 Hours
Famine. This has been going on for many consecutive years now.
Jessica would like to credit her success to her much respected teacher, the
late Mr. Brian Tan that influenced her on how to be an excellent musician and a
great teacher. Now, she is replicating exact the things that Mr Brian Tan has
taught her, by nurturing the new batch of musicians. In the future, she plans
to organise her very own music concerts as a huge milestone in her musical
journey.
